Family background

Robert Sharp was born on 11 October 1839 at Baltinglass, County Wicklow, Ireland, the son of William Sharp and Julia. He married Olivia Jemima Weber (1854-1948) on 6 September 1876 at Sydney, NSW and they had 4 sons and 4 daughters. They lived at 345 Cleveland Street, Redfern.

Sharp died at Sydney on 13 November 1896, aged 57 years, and was buried in the Old Church of England Section of Rookwood Cemetery. He left a will and his estate and assets were assessed at £3,088.

Local government service

Robert Sharp was an alderman for Redfern Council, representing Golden Grove Ward, in 1883-88.
