Family background

Thomas Wild was baptised 14 March 1802 at Manchester, England, the son of Thomas and Mary Wild. Wild married Julia Anne Crawley (1802-1866) at Liverpool, England in 1826 and the couple arrived in New South Wales in about 1856.

After his first wife’s death in September 1866, Wild married Jane Dickens (1845-1881) at Sydney on 21 November 1866. They lived on Redfern Street, Redfern.

Wild died at Burwood, NSW on 23 July 1876, aged 74, and was buried at Ashfield Cemetery. He left a will and his estate and assets were assessed at £6,000.

Occupation & interests

Thomas Wild was a hotelkeeper. He was licensee of The Royal Oak Hotel on the corner of Redfern and George streets, Redfern in 1858.

Local government service

Thomas Wild was elected as an alderman for Redfern Ward in 1859.
