Family background

David John Woolley was born on 8 May 1917 at Redfern, NSW, the son of Frederick Stanley Woolley and Louisa Dorothy Jones.

Woolley married Phyllis Joyce Hines (1917-1985) at Sydney on 27 April 1940. They lived at 33 High Street, Marrickville South. The pair divorced in 1947, and on 10 January 1948, Woolley married Ida May Turner (1918-1970). They lived at 38 Burnett Street, Redfern.

Woolley died on 17 January 1997 at Redfern and was cremated at Eastern Suburbs Crematorium.

Occupation & interests

David Woolley worked as a fitter and turner and had strong links with trade union movement.

Local government service

David Woolley was an alderman for Redfern Ward of Redfern Council from 1941 to 1944.
