Family background

George Henry Smith was born c1872 in NSW, the son of Matthew Francis Smith and Catherine Larkin. He married Pearl Beatrice Alcorn (1884-1944) at Newcastle, NSW on 20 February 1909 and they had 1 son and 5 daughters. They lived at ‘Tivoli’, 307 Cleveland Street, Redfern.

Smith died 11 January 1947, At Bellevue Hill, and was privately cremated. He left a will and his estate and assets were assessed at £1,437.

George Smith was an alderman for Belmore Ward of Redfern Council from 1917-20.
