Family background

John Harvey was on born 5 February 1886 at Warwick, Queensland, the son of John Dunkley Harvey and Alice Golden.

Harvey had a relationship with Edith Gertrude Jubilet Alcock and they had 2 sons. He lived at 16 Cooper Street, Redfern. He died 28 September 1965 at Regents Park, NSW, aged 79 years. He was buried in the Church of England Section of Rookwood Cemetery.

Occupation & interests

John Harvey worked as a storekeeper. In 1926 he told Redfern Council that the practice of tipping rubbish in their municipality was disturbing. The response of Mayor Francis Gilmore was that he would endeavour to have plain clothes policeman investigate this practice.

Local government service

John Harvey was an alderman for Surry Hills Ward in 1922.
